The Color of Romance – Colored Stone Engagement Rings

Diamond engagement Rings Take a Backseat against Colored Gemstones Magic-Celebrities experiment with Colored Gemstones with Flair & Style.

The Royal wedding was the flavour of the first half of the year and the toast of the event was the lovely Kate Middleton who carried off Late Princess Diana’s 18 carat Blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring with quite a flourish. The now Duchess of Cambridge may infact have fired a trend here with a coloured stone engagement ring! Also worth here a mention is the engagement ring presented to Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson by Prince Andrew, which was a stupendous ruby surrounded by diamonds.

While diamonds of various cuts and colours rule the roost when it comes to wedding and engagement jewellery across the world, especially among the who’s who, of late, colored gemstone engagement rings seem to be gaining favour.

Coloured gemstones have tremendous visual appeal and can mesmerize the beholder with their amazing vibrancy and richness. All it takes is a design that does justice to the coloured gemstone.

Just take a look at the gorgeous 5 carat ruby, flanked by two diamonds in Jessica Simpson’s engagement ring. The ring is a Neil Lane creation, a designer who is also known to experiment with pink and yellow diamonds for bridal couture jewellery.

Then there is the screen goddess Penelope Cruz who sports a three carats blue sapphire, set amid diamonds ring. Diamonds are often used as accent stones around precious colored gemstones as they enhance the color of the gemstone manifold and help bring out its natural beauty.

There is also the five carat plus yellow diamond engagement ring of the one time American Idol winner and country singer Carrie Underwood that makes a case for colored gemstone rings to grab the shine from the traditional diamonds. As the taste for the exquisite grows and the pockets run deeper, coloured gemstones have the potential for satisfying the demands of this new market.

Tradition aside there is also something of a joy for the rule breaker, the ones who like to live it a little more edgy, just like Carmen Electra’s Black Diamond ring. Notwithstanding all the superstitions attached to the black diamonds, she rather flaunts her rock that proclaims her being in a league of her own!

While the royals may have had a bias for colored stone engagement rings, the interest of people everywhere in the colored gemstones is getting piqued. And this gives the colored gemstone industry lots to look forward to.

Tektite Buddha – A fragment of the cosmos, chiseled to perfection

Tektite Buddha – A fragment of the cosmos, chiseled to perfection

Tektite Buddha from Gemstoneuniverse museum of Collectibles and Rare Gems

Tektite Buddha from Gemstoneuniverse museum of Collectibles and Rare Gems

Gemstone Universe has recently added a special spherical tektite or aakaashmani to its museum of collectible and rare gems. Along with it has been added, a finely fashioned serene Buddha out of the same tektite material. The tektite sphere is a beautifully engaging black in color and exudes an aura of mystery.

Tektites are of meteoric origin that formed upon the meteoric impact on the earth’s surface. The word tektite coming from the Greek word ‘tektos’, meaning molten. This material is basically a sparkly, glassy material that has a pitted and grooved surface and displays a rare scintilla when light is cast on it.

What makes the tektite interesting is the fact that unlike most gemstones that are formed deep within the earth, the tektite is formed upon the meteoric impact with the surface material of the earth. The high impact melts and molds this object and sends its spinning back into the space only to return and cool into these marvelously shaped tektites found in the earth’s four strewnfields (North American, Australasian, Ivory Coast and Central European).

The central European tektite is a lovely green in color and goes by the name of Moldavite. The Australasian tektite is usually dark and black in color. The shapes that they are found in resemble sphere, ovals, teardrops, dumbbells, discs etc.  The tektites are similar to glass and very, very close to obsidian, from which they can be differentiated with the help of certain tests only.

The particular tektite with us is an Indochinite of the Australasian strewnfield. This category of tektites is found in northern Thailand, which is also home to the rare phenomenon of meteoric showers. It is estimated that these pieces of solidified magma are nothing less than 700,000 years old.

Tektite-Aakashamani from Gemstoneuniverse museum of Collectibles and rare Gems

Tektite-Aakashamani from Gemstoneuniverse museum of Collectibles and rare Gems

The tektite is one of the driest materials with bare minimum water content. Its rebound into space is the possible reason for the lack of moisture, which is accepted by the scientists.

The tektite holds a very special place in the world of healing. For the ancient Chinese, tektite was the Ink stone of the Thunder god. There are numerous talismans fashioned using tektites and they are believed to be greatly protective against evil eye. They have been worn by the ancients as talismans and jewelry as symbol of fertility and abundance also.

The absence of a complex inner structure facilitates fast movement of energy through this stone. The tektite is a stone that is believed to aid psychic abilities, increase the energy field of an individual and enhance telepathic communication. No wonder the aakaashmani can channel the aakaashic records for the diviner. So if you are one aiming to get a head start in your spiritual life, aakaashmani is what you can look to for help. Meditation with this particular stone is also enhances personal power. And what more to be desired if you are able to meditate with Buddha fashioned of this stone!

Are you wearing your Gemstone in the correct hand/ the correct finger and some other secrets of sacred planetary Gemology. Gemstoneuniverse.com

Are you wearing your Gemstone in the correct hand /the correct finger and some other secrets of sacred planetary Gemology. Gemstoneuniverse.com

There are three things that have motivated me in writing this article.

1) I have received thousands of mails from Gem Lovers and those interested in planetary gemology after I wrote the article Do Gemstones Work – No They Don’t for 90% of the People. I take this opportunity to thank each one of you through this medium for your appreciation, since sending individual mails to each one of you would be quite difficult. Among that multitude of Messages there were several messages that asked questions like I am wearing Hessonite in Middle finger of left hand. Is it correct or should it be the right hand and many others on the same lines. Even though this question sounds innocuous-it isn’t and correct implementation of Gemstone therapy is also dependent on wearing the Gemstone in the correct hand and fingers.

2) A mail message received yesterday from an existing Gemstoneuniverse.com patron that says,

None of the 7 points in the checklist to avoid a failure in gem therapy and get good results from your gem, mentioned certain gems must go with certain fingers. Kindly clarify if the gems could be worn in any finger and still will achieve the beneficial planetary effect.

3) Meeting with an individual who came to consult me yesterday evening and who was wearing a Blue Sapphire in the ring finger of the right hand.

Note: The ring finger represents the Sun which in turn represents the Law. Blue Sapphire is the gemstone of Saturn and is generally worn in the middle finger. Incidentally this Gentleman and his family have been involved in a messy litigation after he started wearing the Blue Sapphire in the ring finger.

Ardhanariswara-The divine Shiva representing the sacred Feminine and Masculine that together represent One Entity

Ardhanariswara-The divine Shiva representing the sacred Feminine and Masculine that together represent One Entity

In Which Hand should I be wearing my Gemstones?

In Hinduism, Ardhanari or Ardhanarishvara (Sanskrit: अर्धनारीश्वर, Ardhanārīśvara), is an androgynous deity composed of Shiva and his consort Shakti, representing the synthesis of masculine and feminine energies. The Ardhanari form also illustrates how the female principle of God, Shakti, is inseparable from the male principle of God, Shiva. Ardhanari in iconography is depicted as half-male and half-female, split down the middle. The masculine part is the right side and the feminine part is the left side. Full expression of both these halves leads to complete self realization.

In General, all shastras- sacred texts have the unanimous view that Gents should wear the Gemstones in the right hand and Ladies should wear the Gemstones in the left hand. This is the thumb rule that gives good results.

Exceptions, Sure, Yes!

Gents who use the left hand primarily as their working hand, for signing documents etc. should wear the Gemstones in the left hand.

What are the correct fingers for wearing Gemstones?

The planets are clearing marked on one’s palm and have specific and exact positions. Gemstones should be worn in the correct fingers to get good results.

No results are better than bad results( Such as the case of the Gentleman wearing the Blue Sapphire in the ring finger.

Table indicating the correct fingers for wearing Gemstones as per sacred texts.!

The internet is full of copy and paste jobs regarding this. This table below is the definitive guide.

Gemstones Ruling Planet Finger
Ruby Sun Ring
Natural Pearl Moon Little/Ring
Red Coral Mars Ring
Emerald Mercury Little/Ring( especially if a potent Budh-Aditya Yoga is occurring in the horoscope)
Yellow Sapphire Jupiter Index
Diamond/White Sapphire Venus Ring
Blue Sapphire Saturn Middle
Hessonite Rahu Middle/Little in some cases
Cat’s Eye Ketu Middle/ Ring in some cases

Exceptions to the above rules

The crowning of sacred planetary Gemology lies in its ability to give tangible results. Certain implementations and Knowledge like wearing a red Coral in the middle finger during challenging Saturn periods or wearing a White coral and Natural Pearl for a debilitated Moon or changing of hand due to exceptional combinations created by retrograde planets or wearing mutually inimical gemstones due to unique planetary positions is very special knowledge capable of creating exceptional breakthroughs and cannot be found in the regular texts. These are transferred from a Guru to a deserving Shishya/ Disciple. Yes, these exceptions exist but only to the tune of 1% and such recommendations are available to the masters.

With Blessings and Prayers,

I remain

Be Beautiful, Do beautiful and increase your personal magnetism. That is the spiritual significance of Narak Chaturdashi-the day just before deepwali-The Festival of Lights. A blessing and a message from Guruji Shrii Arnav

Be Beautiful, Do beautiful and increase your personal magnetism. That is the spiritual significance of Narak Chaturdashi-the day just before deepwali-The Festival of Lights. A blessing and a message from Guruji Shrii Arnav

Naraka Chaturdashi/ Kali Chaudas or Roop Chaturdashi is the 14th day of the Hindu month of Kartik, the day just before Deepawali. The day is celebrated to commemorate Krishna’s slaying of the demon Narakasura who had tormented the human beings for long.

Lesser known fact about this day is that, this auspicious day is an occasion when one can seek divine intervention for acquiring beauty and magnetism. Of course, some spiritual sadhanas can be performed for the same but with the guidance of a preceptor.

Every Hindu festival has rational logic to it and so does the festival of deepawali. The dhanteras festival is celebrated to acknowledge the importance of wealth or financial well-being.

The next day Roop Chaturdashi  is designated so as it reminds one that maintaining ones’ body in a good state and keeping it beautiful is not a sign of vanity but is the done thing. One may not publicly lay premium on superficial beauty, but the desire to look good and exude charm is present in every heart.  It is in fact a celebration of good health and a reminder to pay attention to this body which is the ultimate tool/ agent of fulfilling the purpose of this life. Taking care of self is usually low on the priority list of individuals.

It is considered auspicious to wake up before daybreak and bathe. The individuals dress well, in new clothes and women adorn themselves with ornaments and flowers (do the solah shringaars). Lord Krishna is prayed to this day and the mantra “Om Namaha Bhagvatey Vasudevaaya” can be chanted.

The old story that goes with this day is thus…A sage once decided to completely devote his life to god. He surrendered his five karmendriyas, five gyanendriyas and 11 minds to God and thus entered into a state of Samadhi. Sometime lapsed and the sage came to temporarily. Much to his dismay he saw that his body had been taken over by insects and tiny organisms and his hair were infested with lice.  He sat severely disappointed when Narad Muni happened to pass by. To him, he lamented, “My good Lord, I had intended to dedicate my austerities to the almighty, to lead my life in complete devotion to him. However, what has happened to me is something I cannot deal with. I never wanted such decadence to affect me.”

Narad Muni said to him, “My man, the dedication that devotion requires is well understood by you, but what you do not yet understand is that the earthly form is a blessing in itself and requires to be cherished and preserved.” He then explained the importance of the 14th day of Kartik Maas to the sage and instructed him to go about certain rituals. The sage did so and was returned his beautiful human form in all its health and glory.

Celebrate good health, hygiene and earthly blessings this Roop Chaturdashi. Be beautiful. Do beautiful.

A small prayer for you, which you should also recite for yourself, your loved ones and the whole universe

Sarve bhavantu sukhinah= may all be happy
Sarve santu niramayah= may all be free from disease
Sarve bhadrani pashyantu = may all see good and auspicious in everything.
Ma kaschit duhkha bhaag bhaveet- may none be unhappy or in distress
Om shantih, shantih, shantih-Om peace, peace, peace!

Heal your mind, body and soul with Gem Therapy and Ayurveda-Balance the tridoshas of the body with Ayurveda Gemstone Therapy.

Heal your mind, body and soul with Gem Therapy and Ayurveda-Balance the tridoshas of the body with Ayurveda Gemstone Therapy.

Gemstones are miracles of nature and the supreme consciousness has embedded healing qualities into each of the gemstone.  Ayurveda- literally translated as the Science of longetivity is the holistic, traditional system of Indian medicine that aims to bring health and happiness to the individual.

What’s in a Name?-Everything. It has the power of God Realization! A short story shared by Guruji Shrii Arnav with us today!

What’s in a Name?-Everything. It has the power of God Realization! A short story shared by Guruji Shrii Arnav with us today!

It so happened once that Emperor Akbar and Birbal ventured out for a walk where they chanced upon a Brahmin seeking alms. The emperor asked Birbal about what had happened to the man and why he was seeking alms. Birbal answered that he was a lost soul. Upon hearing that Emperor Akbar commanded Birbal to set things right for this man, to which he answered that the job would require about three months and in that duration, things would be set straight for the Brahmin.

That evening Birbal went over to the Brahmins house and asked him the reason for seeking alms despite being a man of knowledge. Without waiting for an answer, he set forth a proposal, “From tomorrow, start your day at four in the morning and chant Lord Ram’s name for me for two hours. I will have a gold coin sent every evening as a day’s wages.” The Brahmin was overjoyed at the great proposal and set to work the very next day. Over a couple of weeks’ time his finances became strong and he was doing well.

The wonder that happened alongside was that the chanting and its special satvik effect started to work on the Brahmins mind and he thought, “If chanting for Birbal can make me this rich, what would happen if I chanted for myself.” With this thought he started doing and additional two hours of ‘Ram Ram’ for himself. All his material problems were done away with one by one. So overwhelmed he was by now with the simple and pure magic of the good Lord’s name that he sent a message to Birbal, “I will now only chant for myself.  Please do not send any more gold. The chanting of Lord’s name has awakened my higher self. I have found my true calling and I would like to spend the rest of my life in devotion to him.”

He sought his wife’s counsel in the matter saying that all material needs had been taken care of and that he was now ready for his higher calling. A good spiritually inclined woman, she agreed and the Brahmin set out for performance of his meditation and austerities in seclusion. So great was his tapas that people began coming for his darshan and seeking his blessings. His fame reached the ears of Emperor Akbar too who went along with Birbal to have the darshan of this holy saint.

Akbar spoke, “O mahatma, I am Akbar, the Emperor of India. If you ever need anything, just remember me. I will make sure that your requests are honoured fastest possible.”

The Brahmin smiled and said, “O Emperor, You do not have anything that could be required by me. But yes, if you ever need anything, please do not hesitate in asking.”

Birbal stepped in and said to the Emperor, “My Lord, This is the very Brahmin who was seeking alms on the streets three months ago. The mere chanting of Ram Ram has turned him from a beggar to a giver. He is now the wealthiest in the real sense of the word.”

Chanting of Lord’s name has a special significance, especially in Kaliyuga. It does tremendous amount of good to chant the name of your ishtadevta (your beloved god). There are no strictures regarding taking your God’s name. However, the benefits are many. It is the ultimate key to your ascension on the spiritual plane.

He first gained popularity in the early 1970s as the “angry young man” of Bollywood cinema, and has since become one of the most prominent figures in the history of Indian cinema.[1][2]

Amitabh Bachchan is a fascinating character and so are his gemstones. The much loved icon of Hindi cinema and a global figure wears a combination of Emerald, Blue Sapphires and an Opal.

Go through the video link below to see how in an understated and a graceful manner Mr. Bachchan explains how his gemstones have given him celestial help and how the support of God has helped him during his trials and tribulations. Mr Bachchan clearly states in the interview that his gemstones have Astrological significance!. Hats off to you Mr. Bachchan! You are gracious, dignified, astute and truthful!

The combination of Opal, Blue Sapphire and emerald is a classical combination that represents the powerful trinity of Venus, Mercury and Saturn. Mr Bachchan adopted gemstone therapy after the debacle of Miss World contest and since then has never looked back.

Being a Karma Yogi he rose like a proverbial phoenix and showed his mettle. Till today he is India’s number one actor due to his hard work, dedication, humility and yes a little bit of celestial help J

There are a lot of lessons to be learned by this but primarily you can focus on these two:

1)      Do not be ashamed of your gemstones. They are your best friends. Be proud of them and there is no need to be embarrassed about their use for astrological significance. When Mr Bachchan has no problem why should you!

2) Look at the correct implementation of Gem therapy. Mr Amitabh Bachchan is wearing two blue sapphires of smaller weight but of exceptional clarity and color instead of wearing one big gemstone that compromises on clarity and color. Always give precedence to lack of treatment, clarity and color than to carat weight.

On his birthday Today, we at Gemstoneuniverse wish Mr, Bachchan the very best  and pray for his good health and long life. May he continue to rule the hearts of people and entertain and enthral the audiences!
